The performance of the day came from Josef Machacek. The Czech achieved tenth place, with the special stage proving perfect for this type of vehicle.
The best Frenchman was Nicolas Boyer (Honda). As for Dominique Robin, the South-east can be proud of him. He easily defeated Kolomytsyn, Arredondo, Merkit and Pronk, the leaders in the motorbike marathon. This evening, he was 12th in the special stage.
As for the trucks, they all arrived outside the time limit, meaning that there is no classification today and the general classification has consequently remained unchanged.
The competitors also survived their first sandstorm, with the driving aces talking of powder and, in the evening, at the camp, Vigouroux said that he had driven over a motorbike, - a worrying time for the Trophy Truck driver (8th this evening). In fact, the rider had abandoned his bike and was wandering aimlessly in the dunes, a hundred meters from his vehicle. More afraid than anything, the Trophy Truck driver helped the driver onto his feet before carrying on with the special stage.
Tomorrow's special stage does not look easy, but, for many competitors, the classification will remain unchanged. The dunes will be high, very high.
