Stohl wants more
|
As the Intercontinental Rally Challenge world prepares for the Ypres Rally in Belgium next month, other items are also in the works. Here is the latest IRC news regarding Manfred Stohl, Michal Kosciuszko, and the 2009 calendar.
More IRC for Stohl?
Austrian star Manfred Stohl would like to contest more IRC events in the future, after
finishing seventh in Portugal with a Peugeot 207 S2000.
"For now, this was a one-off drive, but if the opportunity ever came up again I would like to compete on the IRC again," said Stohl, who was fourth in the World Rally Championship two years ago.
"The cars and the concept are very good. I like the fact that many different people have a chance to win," Stohl added.
Kosciuszko to compete on Rally Poland with Peugeot
Michal Kosciuszko – a leading light of the Junior World Rally Championship – is to compete at Rally Poland in a Peugeot 207 Super 2000.
The all-gravel Rally Poland, which will take place from June 6-8, is one of the eight IRC Supporter Events and the second-oldest rally in the world.
Kosciuszko has some previous experience of driving the Peugeot 207 S2000, but the event is sure to provide some tough competition with several top stars already on the entry list.
Rallye Monte Carlo dates announced
The Rallye Monte Carlo – the oldest and most prestigious event in the history of the sport and which will run as the opening round of the IRC next year – has announced its dates. The event will get underway on Wednesday 21 January and finish on Saturday 24 January.
Further details about the route and the timetable will be released in the coming weeks.
